RIO
Along with the exciting surprises we have in store for the beginning of 2025, this Thursday, January 23, we’re releasing Rio, J Balvin's deepest expression of love for his family. Although the song is named Rio, its message, especially the music video, reflects how finding the right person can heal you and help you discover your best self. J Balvin and Valentina Ferrer met in January 2017 during the filming of “Sigo Extrañándote,” a song from the 2016 album Energía, where they played a family—almost as a premonition of what was to come.
The music video was fully conceived and designed by J Balvin, who used personal memories of Valentina and Rio stored on his phone. The video was edited by My OldSkin in the city of Medellín, Colombia. Interestingly, the scenes in which Balvin performs the song were secretly filmed during their last vacation, keeping the surprise under wraps until his visit to the Paris Men's Fashion Week 2025 this week, where he debuted the video and performed the song for the first time during the LVMH Charity Gala, stunning the audience and, of course, Valentina.
"Today I thank the heavens for the times I was wrong, because I found you" and "... And lost, we found a Rio, and now we’re no longer on the wrong path" are just a few of the striking lyrics in this track, which guides us through a love story. With its rhythm and lyrics, fans—especially couples—will find themselves deeply connected to the song.
Río is just the beginning of many more surprises we are preparing for the first part of 2025, which will be filled with music, performances, anniversaries, the highly anticipated Back to the Rayo Tour across North America, and much more.
